Ball is Life!

For the past 6 years basketball has been my life. I’ve been playing since I was five years-old and made the team at my basketball club in the States. Coming into ISD I learned about a mostly sports competition called WAISAL, it stand for West African International Schools Activities League. Sadly being in middle schools there no such thing as basketball WAISAL. Since the high schoolers have they’re season before us my friends and I would always go out and watch there practices and game to support the team (and my sister). After realizing that our season was coming soon, my best friend, Jennifer, and I decided to have a middle school pre- season for girls, however, we ran in to issues. There was not enough coach to mentor us, because they all busy coaching the high schooler. After that minor issue Mr. 4G allowed the 8th grade girls to practice with the varsity team. This allowed us to experience how playing with high schoolers would, knowing that that with be us in a couple of month. WAISAL is approaching and coach 4G broke the news to Jennifer, Amanda and I. He told us that Burkina Faso would love to join HS WAISAL basketball, but the only had four player and they needed extra people, the head of the sports administration at ISD allowed a couple of 8th graders to play with them. This would be, as previously stated, an experience to play with high schoolers. This impacted my life in ways it let me know that even tho I’m just a middle schooler I can still play at a high school level. It also let me know to be focused when playing. As said in the Disney movie High School Musical “Get your head in the game”.

Thank you Mr. 4G for this opportunity!
